other characters played; N/A

character; Lumina
series; Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
point in canon; Just before the start of the Final Day.
age; Unknown; for all intents and purposes appears to be physically and mentally (generally) anywhere from 12-15.
zodiac sign; Taurus
job; Illusionist
special abilities; Lumina is heavily connected to the Chaos of Nova Crystalis, and her link to it allows her to summon monsters from within its reaches. A Zaltys, a Cyclops, you name it, she'll happily summon it and leave you to fend for your life. Being part of the same thing - Chaos - makes it that much easier to get them to listen to you, after all. Whilst summoning, Lumina calls upon the monster by sourcing the magic from her left bicep - approximately the place where Serah's l'Cie brand was. Funny, that. After asking the mods, Lumina will be able to replicate this ability by being able to call monsters out of rifts because... well, because she can.

Lumina is also able to teleport anywhere she wants to at will thanks to what she is, though it has its limits. She'll be able to do the same in Ivalice but only within a reasonable distance, and will be unfortunately (for you) forced to use transportation where necessary. Anyway, whilst teleporting, Lumina disappears in a flash of white light, and reappears in the same way - a clear contrast to her usual chaotic magic.

She's also clearly capable of typical spell based magic from large to lesser (hence her job), though that's reserved solely for grand displays or for whatever causes the most mayhem or destruction. Last but not least, Lumina's also something of a professional creep and will enjoy taunting everyone about anything and everything. If you become a favoured target, you won't be getting away from her any time soon.

history; "You answered a question with a question. That's an evasion."

personality; Lumina is something of an enigma. She simultaneously manages to sound wise and knowledgeable beyond her supposed physical years whilst also managing to be a bit of a brat. A lot of things she does she does without explanation, and she'll flip-flop from one side of a cause to the other without a care - such as with giving the Order the Clavis - even if yesterday she was busy telling Lightning how she shouldn't side with them. The world is effectively her playground and she rules it without repercussion, and the people in it are her toys. She'll lead you round in a merry circle just for her own amusment, clearly delighted when the other player is kept in the dark about what's really going on. Maybe it would be easier to tell someone the truth from the start, but how would that help? Lumina's prone to whimsy, acts on impulse, and her actions are incredibly erratic and unpredictable - there only unifying factor is in what causes the most mischief and fun, and sometimes yes, that does include the threat on your life. Even if she knew you'd make it through it, but that's part of the fun, right?

In some ways Lumina is just the kid she appears to be. She likes her tricks and her pranks, certainly, but she craves interaction with others. She's just not so sure how to get it; the only real way she knows how to latch onto someone is through forcing them to need her, and that's the truth of what fuels her every action. She clings in the only way she knows how and doesn't let go. When that need for her is gone, she panics. Right up until the last possible moment on the Final Day Lumina's antagonistic to Lightning until she takes a one-eighty and begs her to stay. Ends hurt. Change hurts. Sometimes, she really is just a lonely little girl trying to get someone's attention. At others, she's nothing short of a demon with no moral boundaries.

This conflictual nature is down to just exactly what Lumina is - an entity formed from Lightning's cast off feelings, a living tomb for Serah's soul. She's a cornerstone of unwanted behaviours, of selfishness, fear, and loneliness: an exaggeration of them, because that's all she has. Her worst fear is being alone and being shunned by Lightning once more.

However, despite only really looking out for herself and her own interests (whatever they may be at that given moment), Lumina does have the capacity to care. She does try to be helpful. Though she's unpredictable, many of the people she interacts with are endeared by her and her means of occasionally trying to "help", because even if it was dangerous, it worked out okay in the end. And if you are one of her favourite people, despite all the pranks, she'll bother you to make sure everything's okay and find some way to fix your problems - such as with Sazh and Dajh's missing soul, Vanille's isolation in the cathedral - conventionally or not.

first person sample; Here

third person sample; It was early afternoon in Yusnaan. It wouldn't be long before the nightly revels began, and those unlucky enough not to be able to get a ticket would sneak through the back of the industrial district to get a view of what they were missing out on.

Technically speaking, nobody should be up here. It was all handled by the good old fal'Cie.

Lumina wasn't just anybody, though. She was perched pecariously on the rim of of a metal grate, legs swinging wildly in the air - not at all concerned that she could easily fall to her death or fail prey to any monsters hanging out in the area. No, she was far too relaxed for that, humming in time to each kick of her feet, watching the few people below bustle about their unimportant business like ants.

Those people didn't matter to her. What mattered to Lumina was Lightning.

She wasn't exactly an impatient person - she was good at waiting for a goal, so she thought - but she could hardly wait for Lightning to show up here. Because she would, after all. 6PM sharp. It was her only way into the palace and her only way to find Snow.

"What should we do, I wonder? Summon another Zaltys? Nah, did that already. Maybe a Cyclops this time. And all this metal..."

She tapped her fingers on it, laughing.

"... it's not really that sturdy. It'd probably break if it gets too mad. Oh, well. Poor sis. I guess she'd have to go in through the front to find Snow."

That would be much more interesting than sneaking around back alleys, at any rate. Give them a show to remember, or something.

She giggled again, grinning a smirk that probably shouldn't have been so well suited to her face, her voice falling an octave lower. What plagued the patron of Yusnaan was very serious, after all. That concern might have been believable if not for the continued amusement in her eyes.

"Whatever's left of him by now, anyway."
